Summary: Lizzie Richards isn't excited to be starting over at a new school for her senior year, but she's trying to take her mother's advice and make the most of it--the only way she can: By disobeying her strict parents' rules. Lizzie's father has moved the family around every few years to advance his career, so she has never had a chance to develop the kind of "BFF" relationships she thinks most kids have. She's bracing herself for another lonely year at her third high school when her neighbor Maura gets sick of watching her little brother when she could be partying. Thanks to Maura's plotting, Lizzie becomes everyone's new favorite babysitter. Seeing her opportunity, Lizzie decides to break her mother's rules by using Maura's computer to create a secret Email address and Facebook account. She is quickly friended by Missy, a fellow transfer student as eager for a friend as she is. Things are looking up for Lizzie until Maura's ex-boyfriend Paul sets his eye on Missy. Caught between her new best friend and the neighbor whose friendship promises instant popularity, Lizzie doesn't know what to do--because she's fallen for Paul, too.

Short Review:

A coming of age story that anyone can relate to in some way. The main character is very real and multidimensional. You get where she's coming from. Some will love lizzie, while others will hate her. Watch Me Disappear is an addicting read, and if you're looking for a good contemporary read, this is it!

Excerpt:

"I've spent enough time around hockey players to know that they aren't the kind of guys that I want to waste my time with." She stared the two of them down, her eyes fixed and unyielding.
"And how is it that you've spent so much time around us that you know how all of us behave?" He knew some of his teammates could be real assholes, but he hated to think that their reputation could ruin this night for Todd and him. Especially after he'd spent most of practice sporting a hard on from fantasizing about the evening. They weren't allowed to ruin this for him.
"Scott's your friend that you set up with this service, right?" She started pacing.
Todd and Ian both nodded.
"Well, TJ is my best friend that I set up." She stopped and turned toward them.
For once, he actually felt speechless. That explained why she looked familiar to him. Now that he could place her, he remembered seeing her hanging around the rink after practice and before games. His brain sifted through the new information while Todd picked up the conversation.
"Look, I get it. You've met a few players who were complete jerks." She snorted and covered her mouth. Tempted to respond to her display, he bit the inside of his cheek and let his friend continue talking. "You asked for a certain experience tonight though. If we leave, you aren't going to get that. Who knows when you'll be able to find a couple of other guys willing to provide it."

Summary: Eleanor is tired of being a spinster no one ever notices. Life for a twenty-six year old unwed woman in 1811 is dreadfully dull. She can’t have an affair at the risk of ruining her family’s reputation…unless she finds a way to do so without the slightest risk of discovery. Dare she travel two hundred years into the future to have a 1Night stand with the help of Madame Eve?

Thomas struggles daily to move on after the death of his beloved countess, but being the most highly sought after bachelor of the ton doesn’t allow him much privacy to do so. All he yearns for is a night of lust and fun, with a woman who can make him remember what it feels like to be swept away by passion. Traveling two-hundred years into the future seems to be the perfect solution for both discretion and ease.

What will happen when they discover they didn’t escape their lives at all, but merely found each other?

Review:

Eleanor and Thomas both travel two hundred years into the future for a night of passion, with the help of Madame Eve. Neither of them realize that they come from the same time and place, until they come face-to-face and Eleanor recognizes the man that she has loved from afar for years. It isn't until Eleanor leaves using the time travel device that Thomas realizes that they come from the same time, and when he returns home he'll do anything to find the woman who brought his heart back to life.

I've recently come to really love time travel stories, but Escape to Me is different from the others in that time doesn't keep Thomas and Eleanor apart. Usually there is a heartbreaking realization that the two will never see each other again, and while there is the moment when Eleanor says goodbye and returns home, there is a hopefulness because Thomas is able to follow her back, and he just has to find her again.

I thought it was pretty entertaining how Eleanor kept potentially revealing who she really is by how she would sometimes act and speak, and she does a very good job of pretending to be a "modern woman" to cover up for her slip-of-the-tongue moments. As with a lot of novellas, I really wish that there were more to Thomas and Eleanor's story. For a short story, Escape to Me is a well-written and enjoyable read.

Excerpt:

Heart racing, she towed him to where the wine sat. She’d need to loosen up a bit to fool him into thinking she hailed from this time. Though she should run away without delay, the night carried the possibility of bringing her fantasies to fruition. In this very room, the man she’d pined for, the one she’d yearned to have, stared at her with hunger. Thomas wanted to make love—with her, of all people. Who would’ve guessed it?

“So, Eleanor, tell me, where are you from?” He grabbed the wine, a brow raised as he grabbed the corkscrew to open the bottle. He studied the object, flipping it in his hands, and then put the sharp, twisty blade in the cork.

She could almost hear his thought process as he compared the modern version to the ones they were familiar with. He tossed a smile over his shoulder and poured two glasses. Giving one to her, he motioned for her to sit down on the couch. Once she did so, he sat so close beside her that their legs touched. The heat from his body pressing against hers caused to tremble and almost spill the wine over the rim, even though he’d filled it only three-quarters full.

“I’m from London. My family has an estate out near Devon, but we seldom use it.” Eleanor sipped her beverage, proud of her response. She sounded so…sophisticated. One would never guess she hovered a mere second away from exploding with anxiety. “You?”

“I live far away. I’m in town for a night, and then I return home.”

Now, that was an understatement, if she’d ever heard one. Two hundred years away, to be exact.

She held back a trill of laughter at his perfect reply. Clients were urged not to reveal the truth of their origins. Most people remained unaware of the joys of time-traveling—and the company preferred to keep it that way.

She licked her parched lips. “Oh, is that so? How fortunate for me to have the pleasure of meeting you before you leave.”

He studied her mouth, and her insides clenched at the dark hunger she saw within. How was it possible that he could be so ravenous—for her?

“Indeed, how fortunate. I almost backed out, thinking it silly of me to do something so frivolous. Then, I thought, perhaps it could be an interesting diversion for the night.” He finished his wine, and she hurried to follow suit. He refilled her glass first, then his, before turning to face her. His lips turned up at the corners, and she took another taste to steady her nerves. “I daresay it might end up being much more than a simple distraction.”

Her heart skittered to a stop, and she choked on her wine.

Dear God, does he know who I am?

He set his drink down, plucked her glass out of her grasp, and placed it on the table next to his. His brow crinkled with worry, he pounded on her back. The force behind the blows made her stumble out of the seat, so he gripped her elbows to place her on her feet before repeating the action. She didn’t know which made it harder to get air into her lungs…the wine or his “help.”

She waved at him and croaked, “I’m fine.”

His fingers tightened on her shoulders. “Are you alright, La—Eleanor?”

“You know?” He’d almost called her by her title. How had he figured out the truth? She stared straight ahead, scared to look at him, and stepped out of his arms. “H-How do you know?”

He frowned. “I know? What did I say, Eleanor?”

She realized her lapse in judgment before he finished speaking. He hadn’t known she was a lady—he had just slipped up by addressing her as he was accustomed. She choked on a nervous bubble of laughter. His brow arched, so she coughed to try and disguise her laugh under the after-effect of choking on wine.

He hadn’t the foggiest notion about her true identity. He’d called her Lady out of habit. Not knowledge. Stepping closer, she smiled up at him and brushed a finger down the curve of his jaw. She’d always wanted to do that Always wondered what the stubble on a man’s face might feel like against her skin.

It felt sinfully delicious.

Short Review:

This book is one of my favorite kinds: emotional. The characters and story are well structured. I like that the story is relateable to those who have suffered a similar family tragedy. It's real.

Review:

I cannot tell you how much I LOVED this book! It's hot, it's steamy, and it's heart-wrenching. Emotional factor is huge for me in a book. I need to feel something from the story and characters. I need to feel like what's happening to the characters is happening to me. The Wild Ones left me crying at some points, and extremely joyous at others. This book is one that shouldn't be missed.

About this Author:

I was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it's there. I believe that I'm shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can't be sure because I haven't met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer's too hot, winter's too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all.

Summary: Life changed for Deanna Brooks the night she attended a book signing for her aunt's best-selling paranormal romance series. There she met Burney "Burn the Cover God" Sheridan. The model for the fictional vampire hero, Burn is beyond handsome with an overabundance of Irish charm.

Burn Sheridan, a man with scores of past lives, has a secret: He really is a vampire. Meeting Deanna was agony because for the first time in over two hundred years, Burn experiences the rarest of vampiric needs, the "mate of his soul" connection. Keeping people at a distance had been Burn's existence for centuries, but Deanna makes this pledge of staying detached impossible.

Many obstacles lie ahead and the biggest of all may be Burn himself. Can Deanna and Burn overcome them and find lasting love?

Review:

Deanna's chance encounter with Burn changes both their lives. Dean doesn't believe in the kind of love that her aunt writes about in her paranormal romance novels. Burn, after centuries of detachment, feels the rare "mate of the soul" connection when he meets Dean. The only things standing in their way are the fact that Burn is really a vampire and his fear of being rejected by the one woman who can love him forever.

My Vampire Cover Model isn't a very long story, but it was packed with emotion. I thought it was pretty awesome that Dean and Burn met at a book signing. At one point, I thought this story was going to end in heartbreak, but a second chance (or maybe fateful) encounter changes that. I loved this story so much and I really wish there was more to Dean and Burn's story. My Vampire Cover Model would make a great prequel to a full length novel or a series.

Excerpt:

Deanna tapped her sandaled foot in annoyance. She didn’t want to bother with the guy, but Janice insisted, bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement as they advanced toward the table.

As they moved closer, the model’s masculinity became more potent. She could hear the slight lilt to his deep voice as he answered the ladies questions. His eyes crinkled sexily when he smiled. His teeth were perfectly shaped and a brilliant white.

Deanna glanced at her aunt’s table a few times, hoping to catch her eye, but Carol was busy working her crowd. While Deanna enjoyed an historical romance she’d never quite taken to the paranormal genre. Aunt Carol always mailed her advance copies, but she usually wound up giving them to Janice. She should’ve given the books a chance. Judging from the crowd, paranormal romance seemed popular. There was a steady stream of women coming and going.

Janice clutched her arm. “We’re next!”

Oh, yippie-friggin’-yay. Janice stood next to Burn. Damn, he is tall. A few inches under six-six, anyway, Deanna observed. Janice babbled nonsensical chatter while the model smiled, nodded, and signed a couple of her paperbacks.

Janice put her arm around the man’s trim waist. “Take our picture, Dean!”

Deanna raised the camera and looked up just as Burn’s searing gaze swept over her like a roll of white heat. God, his eyes had turned from black to silver again. Those special magic contacts were amazing. Holding out the camera, she clicked and hoped Janice was in the frame because she couldn’t tear her eyes away from “Sizzle” or “Burn” or whatever his name was. Deanna clicked another for good measure.

Janice took the camera and shoved her toward the leather-clad hunk. Her mouth went dry, and her insides fluttered. For God’s sake, he was only a model. Why was she so flustered?

She stepped next to him and glanced up. Oh hell yeah, very tall. He towered over her by at least a foot. His arm stretched out to clasp her shoulder, and he brought her in tight against his side. Solid, rock-hard muscle. Her insides began to churn in arousal.

“What’s your name, darlin’?”

She couldn’t speak. Deanna was like Ralphie in A Christmas Story, sitting on Santa’s lap. Duh…uh. No words came out.

“Her name is Deanna, but I call her Dean!” Janice sang out.

Burn gently squeezed her shoulder, and it almost brought her to her knees, his touch was so intoxicating.

“Dean. I like that,” he purred.

Dear God. His voice, was he Irish? The tone sounded low, sexy, and rumbled deep in his impressive chest, sending shock waves through her entire body.

Then the unthinkable happened. A wash of scent covered her. Deanna could taste it in her mouth, and feel it on her skin. Was the overpowering aroma his cologne? Some guys liked to drown themselves with those tacky body sprays. Burn must have marinated himself in the swill.

Deanna wheezed and her throat closed up. Her hand clasped her throat. Trying to breathe through her nose was unsuccessful. The only thing she smelled was his spicy, musky, overpowering scent. Her eyes watered and her body trembled furiously.

“Are you all right, love?”

Deanna fell to her knees, fighting for every breath. Strong arms encircled her and carried her from the sales floor through to a door marked Staff Only.

Summary: Julia Cape: A dedicated classical piano student just trying to get through her last semester of high school while waiting to hear from music conservatories.

Reed MacAllister: A slacker more likely to be found by the stoners’ tree than in class.

Julia and Reed might have graduated high school without ever speaking to each other…until, during a class discussion of Romeo and Juliet, Julia scoffs at the play’s theme of love at first sight, and Reed responds by arguing that feelings don’t always have to make sense. Julia tries to shake off Reed’s comment and forget about this boy who hangs with the stoner crowd—and who happens to have breathtaking blue eyes—but fate seems to bring the two together again and again. After they share an impulsive, passionate kiss, neither one can deny the chemistry between them. Yet as Julia gets closer to Reed, she also finds herself drawn into his dark world of drugs and violence. Then a horrific tragedy forces Julia’s and Reed’s families even farther apart…and Julia must decide whether she’s willing to give up everything for love.

Defy the Stars is written in an edgy free-verse style that will appeal to fans of Ellen Hopkins and Lisa Schroeder; however, the writing is accessible enough to speak to non-verse fans as well. The novel’s combination of steamy romance and raw emotion will appeal to fans of Gayle Forman, Simone Elkeles, Jennifer Echols, and Tammara Webber. With a story, language and form that both pay homage to and subvert Shakespeare’s play, Defy the Stars is much more than just another Romeo and Juliet story.

Summary: A quiet, lakeside vacation is just what Brielle needs to decompress after her busy concert season. She expects the weeks to pass uneventfully. Until she meets the men next door.

Tyler and Zeke are as adventurous and sexy as the Harleys they ride. The passion they hear in Brielle’s music draws them to her.

Convinced the hunks are gay, Brielle lets down her inhibitions. That turns out to be the best decision she’s made in a long time.

Review:

Brielle is a cellist who goes to her uncle's cabin for some much needed R&R. Tyler and Zeke come roaring by on their Harley's and pull up to the cabin next to hers. Brielle's music draws the two bikers to her porchstep. And soon they're all in bed together.

I really liked the music aspect of Night Music. I used to play the violin, but always wanted to try the cello. I thought that this story could have easily been made into a full length novel. I would have loved to read more about the characters and whatnot. But since this is a novella, we only get a small look.

Excerpt:

Brielle had stopped at the local market to get enough supplies for a few days. She had no intention of going to town unless there was a darn good reason. After her clothing and other belongings were unpacked, she opened a bottle of wine—one of several she’d bought—and contemplated the glorious evening sun.
The rumble of motorcycles disrupted her musings. She craned her neck to see who the offenders were.
Two men on leather-bedecked hogs cruised down the neighboring driveway. She watched from the seclusion of her covered porch as they got off and parked their bikes. Leather chaps covered their jeans. Boots and black leather vests made them look badass. She waited for them to remove their helmets and reveal more of their features.
She wasn’t disappointed.
One of the broad-shouldered men had flaxen hair. The second man ran his hands through his dark hair that reached his shoulders. Even from a distance, she could tell they were in good physical shape, and probably in their late twenties. A twinge of naughtiness plucked her libido. Her vacation was already looking up.
The bike-riding neighbors unpacked their saddlebags and carried their gear into their cabin. The door shut softly behind them and returned the peace and quiet they’d interrupted.
Brielle watched the sun dip lower, streaking the sky with brilliant red, orange, and yellow against the clear blue backdrop. The deep sounds of a motoryacht’s engines mixed with the haunting sounds from the loons.
Inspired, she refilled her wineglass, and then brought her cello to the three-season porch. She moved her bow across the taut strings, warming up, wondering what she should play. She sipped her wine while searching through her extensive music collection. Her hand rested on Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Did she dare? Could she play with even half the passion Mei Ju had the other day?
Closing her eyes, Brielle focused on the sounds and sight of Mr. Ju on stage.
Will that ever be me?
She drew her bow back and forth on the strings to play the fiery interludes and soulful chords. Brielle imagined herself in front of the orchestra, the way Ju had been, and did her best to do justice to the piece he’d played so brilliantly.
As she played the last, low note, she noticed the two men standing on their porch, watching her. Heat flared in her cheeks, whether from the exertion of playing or the embarrassment of their witness, she didn’t know.
One man began clapping.
Not expecting that reaction, she chuckled.
“Play something else,” said the man with the long hair.
Thinking they were making fun of her, she closed her music and stood. “Funny guy.”
“No, really, play some more.”
She contemplated the request for a moment. “You’re not going to call the cops?”
The blond one laughed. “Oh, hell no. Come on. Play something hot and sexy.”
Bolstered by their enthusiasm, she wondered what she could play that might fit the bill. “Just a minute.” A number of titles ran through her mind and she dismissed them all. Ah, the perfect one.

Summary: Siddella, a tired corporate executive needs a break from the hectic work life she leads. Overstressed, she wouldn’t mind if that break came in the form of two hunky dominant males that cater to dark fantasies involving bondage of both the mind and body.

Jason and Chase have yearned for a woman who fit into their relationship. She’d be sexy, confident, self reliant and kinky? Damn right she would be. But her most prized possession would her acceptance of them as individuals and a couple.

When all three are separately given 1Night Stand cards, they realize the chance of a lifetime. Are they ultimately ménage bound?

Review:

This is the first 1Night Stand novella I've read, and I wasn't disappointed. Siddella, Jason, and Chase have all been looking for someone(s) to fill that empty spot in their lives, and through different means gain possession of a business card for the 1Night Stand service, where all your desires can be fulfilled. This is how Siddella meets Jason and Chase and vice versa. Siddella wanted two men who could take control of her, and Jason and Chase are looking for a woman who will accept them and their relationship.

Menage Bound is a steamy read and it's light on the BDSM. This story definitely would have made a great full length novel I would have loved to read. But for a short story, I thought that it was well written and was an enjoyable fast read.

Excerpt:

“Something the matter, Siddella? You can back out at any time.”
The tenderness came from Chase.
Back out? Hell no! Her body thrummed with so much sexual energy she could probably power the Vegas Strip for at least a week. She offered an innocent smile. “I’m good. Let’s do this.” Batting her eyelashes, she cocked her head to the side.
Jason smirked. “Do you want a safe word?”
The smart move would be to say yes. Somehow, she thought it wouldn’t be needed. But—
“Unlike my partner, I’m not asking. I’m giving you one. Wine bottle. If things get too heavy, you simply say wine bottle.” Chase didn’t look back at her.
His air of cool made her knees weak. “Wine bottle. Okay.” At least they were thinking of her safety. Yeah, they possessed the traits of true dominant males who valued her existence enough to give her a safe word. She smiled at the gesture.
The elevator dinged. Siddella started forward, but fingers gripping her shoulder stopped her. She looked back at Jason.
His eyes narrowed.
She let out a sigh. “Please, after you.”
Jason stepped into the elevator, followed by Chase. Then they turned and, with the slightest of movements, acknowledged Siddella, giving her permission to enter.
The material of her shirt began irritating her already hard nipples. Anticipation drove her wild. What would these men do to her?
What would start things off?
A few more moments would pass before she found out.
Two minutes later, the elevator reached the penthouse suite.
Doors opened at a snail’s pace.
Jason and Chase stepped forward, turned to face each other. Then they looked at Siddella and each extended an arm. Chase blinked. “Last chance before you step into the den of iniquity. You may always trust that we’ll keep you safe. If you refuse, we part ways now. No harm, no foul.”
“So,” Jason set a hand on his hip, “will you come with us?”
